Check of fires of stoplights

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Fires of stoplights in Audi A4 receive power supply directly from accumulator plus (through a safety lock and the switch of fires of stoplights). It means that they have to burn also when pressing a brake pedal without ignition inclusion.
  2. The wall behind the car on the right and at the left has to be lit with red light if you press a brake pedal.
  3. Or at the movement in a column check in a rearview mirror, whether both fires of a stoplight of your car are reflected in reflectors of headlights or in varnishing of the car going behind.

Switch of fires of a stoplight

The switch of fires of a stoplight (3) settles down in an arm over a brake pedal. It should not be confused to ventilating valves (1 and 2) of system of adjustment of speed. 4 – control unit of blocking of departure of the car.

The switch of fires of a stoplight is in Audi over a pedal of a brake and is available only after dismantle of a reception pocket at the left (the head Salon).

If the brake pedal is pressed, the pin of the switch moves forward and closes contact with stoplight lamps.

Adjustment of the switch of fires of a stoplight

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dismantle a reception pocket under a control panel at the left (the head Salon).
  2. Press a brake pedal a hand.
  3. With a force wring out the switch of fires of a stoplight in it directing up.
  4. Now release a pedal of a brake and pull back against the stop.
  5. At the expense of it the switch of fires of a stoplight will become straight.
  6. Such adjustment is carried out only once at installation of the switch since after repeated adjustment the switch will not be clamped in directing rather reliably.

Check of the switch of fires of a stoplight

If both lamps of fires of a stoplight failed, check, whether is a malfunction source the switch:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the wire socket on the switch of fires of a stoplight.
  2. Close an office paper clip or a piece of a wire contacts in the socket.
  3. If now fires of a stoplight burn (though still it was not), the switch is faulty.

 Council: Do not confuse the switch of fires of a stoplight with the switch on a brake pedal from system of adjustment of speed. The last has an additional connection to a vacuum hose.
