Measurement of thickness of overlays of forward disk brakes

Large brake overlays of forward disk brakes often maintain run more than 50 000 km. Control of thickness of slips is of great importance for safety, – about brakes easily "forget", in view of such high hodimost of slips, – as in Audi A4 is not present to more alarm bulb of wear of brake slips as it was in the previous models:

Measurement of a brake slip on brakes of a forward wheel:

1 – slip material;
2 – the bearing plate from metal.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The minimum thickness of a slip makes 7 mm, including the bearing plate. Itself the bearing plate – a metal detail on which the slip is pasted, – has thickness about 5 mm, thus material of a direct slip has to have the minimum thickness of 2 mm.
  2. At fluent control with the taken-off cap of a wheel light a lamp in an opening of a rim and estimate slip thickness.
  3. More exact control at the removed wheel.
  4. Apply a ruler to a slip and measure, do not forget about a brake slip on inside!
